Oral Presentations

Oral presentations are the core component of the 44th ISTS Symposium and provide a structured platform for students, researchers, conservationists, and policymakers to share groundbreaking studies, innovative conservation strategies, and critical insights into sea turtle biology and ecology. The 44th ISTS Symposium will consist of two concurrent oral presentation sessions occurring during four of the seven days of the conference timeframe. If you are interested in giving an oral presentation, be sure to submit your abstract on time and choose the “prefer oral” presentation option during registration.

Time slots for oral presentations will be 10 minutes each. All presenters will be required to step down from the podium at the 10-minute mark. This is necessary to ensure the program stays on time. We suggest you complete your talk in 8 minutes to allow 2 minutes for questions. Allowing time for questions is required for oral presentations made by Archie Carr Award candidates as their response performance is an integral part of the student presentation assessment process.

All oral presentations must be given in English. Oral presentations should be created in Microsoft PowerPoint (16:9 aspect ratio for best viewing) and must be uploaded in the Game Room between 6:00pm-7:00pm the day before your session to ensure it is available and functioning properly for your talk.

Poster Presentations

Poster presentations serve as another vital avenue to share research and promote knowledge exchange during the 44th ISTS Symposium, complementing oral sessions over the course of four days. Posters are displayed in a dedicated exhibition area, where authors present their work, including key methods and findings. Unlike oral presentations, poster sessions allow for informal, one-on-one discussions, providing deep engagement opportunities on the specific research topics being shared. Presenters are sometimes scheduled to stand by their posters during designated times to interact with symposium participants, answering questions and fostering collaborative discussions.

Posters should measure 30 inches (76 cm) wide by 44 inches (111 cm) tall and be in portrait orientation. This is the maximum allowable size. Please note that oversized posters or those not meeting these specifications may not be displayed.

Please be sure to include your contact details on on your poster (a QR code to you contact details is acceptable)
