The 44th ISTS Symposium will be held at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa, an amazing 4-star venue perched atop the cliffs of Keauhou Bay on Hawaiʻi Island. The resort is just south of the town of in Kailua-Kona, approximately 20 kilometers from the Kona International Airport (KOA), and features the Kaleiopapa Convention Center, a 10,000-square-foot facility where all the primary symposium activities will take place.
There are onsite restaurant, cafe, and bar options offering local and international cuisine, as well as an oceanfront swimming pool (and water slide!), and various cultural and diversion opportunities.
The symposium’s discounted room block is now full, and the symposium itself is sold out on select days. Lodging availability at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa is therefore limited.
Attendees who wish to stay at the symposium venue are encouraged to continue checking the resort’s website , as additional rooms may become available if inventory is released closer to the event. Any available rooms can be reserved directly through the resort at prevailing rates.
Hotel capacity at the symposium venue is finite, and accommodation availability is influenced by the inherent uncertainty in attendance for an international meeting of this scale. Planning for a symposium of this size requires balancing potential participation levels with affordability and logistical feasibility, particularly when attendance may range from a few hundred to many hundreds of participants. The selected venue provides the capacity needed to host a strong international symposium and, among Hawaiʻi venues capable of supporting an event of this size, offers one of the most reasonable and accessible cost structures for participants.
The following are included if you reserve as a symposium participant: Enhanced Wi-Fi, parking (typically $25++/day), and Resort Fees (typically $35++/day). Cultural activities including Hula lessons and Lei Making, Guided Cultural and Historical Tours of Keauhou Bay, Daily access to Outdoor Games (Tennis, Basketball, Bocce Ball-complimentary equipment). Daily Yoga or Fitness Class, Daily Paddleboard Rental (includes 1 board for 2-hour use).
