Origin Stories

Have you ever wondered how sea turtles became someone’s lifelong passion? What moments and experiences guided them toward a pursuit of sea turtle knowledge and understanding? Our Origin Stories workshop will give turtlers from around the world an opportunity to hear from leaders in the field and share their own personal and inspirational stories with the group. Speakers will reflect on pivotal moments, challenges, mentors, and inspirations that led them into this field and kept them here. The Origin Stories workshop was established as a tradition at the West Coast Sea Turtle Symposium and was later launched at the ISTS Symposium in Thailand 2024.
